  • Weight, monument for Comma Seperated Values

‘Weight-Monument for Comma-Separated Values’ refers to a file format for data, the CSV file. This file type is used to store sequences of numbers, separated by commas. As such, it plays a significant role in large language models, the LLMs we usually refer to as ‘AI’. These CSV files are used in the development of these predictive computer models for the input, output and integration of data – our data. Our texts, our movements, our words, our music and our images. As such, it plays a crucial role in how our society is analysed and exploited, and in how decisions are made accordingly.

  • MEME

Meme is, in its original meaning*, a unit of cultural information, like an idea, a behavioral pattern, a style, or a symbol that propagates itself through sharing and copying, much like genes in a biological sense. Just like genes, memes can mutate and evolve within a culture, and they function as small units of social and cultural transmission.

In ‘MEME’, these smallest units are divided into two equal parts: ME and ME. Each ME has an unique colorvalue, except at the bottom right. There we can see the black outline of a counterclockwise swastika emerging, traditionally a symbol of prosperity.

    * The term “meme” was introduced in 1976 by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins in his book “The Selfish Gene.” He adopted the term from the Greek word “mimema” (something that is imitated) to describe cultural elements such as fashion, melodies, or skills.

  • SQ 1

“SQ 1” is the first in a series of abstract designs in which color is used to create depth and movement within a set of simple rules. The artwork was originally created using computer code, which was then converted into a beautiful sublimation print on aluminum.

These works are written in Scalable Vector Graphics or SVG computer language. These are simple mathematical instructions that describe lines, shapes, and colors. The abstraction of typing coordinates and color values helps me discover combinations that I wouldn't normally think of.

SVG code has been developed to create optimized images for web pages. The code I write is converted through a few simple steps into an instruction file for inkjet and sublimation printers, which can then produce the image on paper, acrylic, or aluminum.
