SQ 1

“SQ 1” is the first in a series of abstract designs in which color is used to create depth and movement within a set of simple rules. The artwork was originally created using computer code, which was then converted into a beautiful sublimation print on aluminum.

These works are written in Scalable Vector Graphics or SVG computer language. These are simple mathematical instructions that describe lines, shapes, and colors. The abstraction of typing coordinates and color values helps me discover combinations that I wouldn't normally think of.

SVG code has been developed to create optimized images for web pages. The code I write is converted through a few simple steps into an instruction file for inkjet and sublimation printers, which can then produce the image on paper, acrylic, or aluminum.
